Trail Camera Videos

We love trail cameras.  Heck, everyone loves trail cameras.  They are without a doubt the best tool in a deer hunter's gear box.  One feature that is often overlooked is capturing video.  Let's take a look at some of the cool things video can capture

Paying close attention to a trail camera video will tell you which direction the deer came from.  This information can be the golden nugget in finding a deer's bedding area.

Sound!  The video will also have sound.  You may be able to hear grunting or other deer running in the background.  I recently finished a Bushnell Trophy Cam HD review.  During the review I left the camera out for about 3 weeks.  I captured a lot of great video.  Check out the Youtube video below that highlights some very cool Bushnell Trophy Cam HD Video.

I bet everyone liked seeing the bucks sparing.  If I was only using the picture setting then this action would have gone unnoticed.

Hunting Gear Reviews

Hunting Gear Reviews, more like friend referrals
There is definitely no shortage of gear available to deer hunters.  I can remember back to 2006 and there were only about 5 models of trails.  Hell, my first trail camera was homemade because the "real trail cameras" were over $400.  Now in 2013 there are over a dozen manufacturers of trail cams and each company has several models to choose from.

This same scenario is true with any type of hunting gear.  A shortage of models to choose from is not the problem.  The problem is Which fill in the blank .      ..   ..   is right for me.  Seeing a need for more product reviews prompted me to create a hunting gear reviews section on DeerPros.com

I figure I can put my OCD to use and help you guys out.  See, when I decide I need a new trail camera I started researching.  Digging through hunting forums and hunting blogs looking for feedback and opinions.  Then I start talking to friends and asking the pros down at the local archery shop.  Usually the field gets narrowed down to two or three models and then I start field testing.  I recently put together a Moultrie M880 Review - Read Review -

It is more than a review.  These product spotlights are more of a recommendation.  I am not getting paid to write the articles.  It is hunting gear that I am really impressed by...or really disappointed in and want to be sure other deer hunters are aware of all the pros and cons.

My search for a new broadhead is another good example.  There are plenty of decent broadheads on the market and there are also a ton of crappy designs.  My Grim Reaper Razortip Review is simply highlighting a fantastic expandable broadhead that is far less known than NAP and Rage.  Head over to Deer Pros and check out the Grim Reaper review and while you are there you can check out all the other reviews and deer hunting tips.

A Better Trail Cam Comparison

Trail Camera Comparison Example
Trail cams are high tech hunting gadgets.  5 years ago they were $500 and no one had one and now they are $100 bucks and everybody has half a dozen.  Even though price has come down the technology continues to advance.

Trail camera's standard list of features is growing with each deer season.  A customer has a lot to think about when shopping for the best price on a trail camera.  here is a quick list of the core features you should be comparing when buying a deer camera.

  • Trigger speed
  • resolution
  • battery life
  • moon phase
  • temperature
  • barometric pressure
I have put together a trail camera comparison tool on Deer Pros.  I would love to be able to hard code the results but I am having trouble.  So for the mean time you will have to select the models you would like to compare.  The chart looks great and the specs are easy to compare

Here is an example of one of the trail camera comparison charts.

If you can think of a feature or spec that should be added just leave a comment below and let me know

Weekend Work on DeerPros

A webmaster's work is never done.  Woocommerce came out with another update but I still have some screwy compatibility issue between my theme and my host.  Basically lightbox and a couple of other cosmetic features don't work.

Redfield Revolution Rifle Scope
Anyway, I finally added another rifle scope to the store.  The Redfield Revolution 3-9 x 40mm is an awesome scope and you might be shocked to see it listed less than $200 bucks.

A few more reviews have been submitted in the trail cameras section.  Several people have left Bushnell Trophy Cam HD reviews and the feedback is great.

I still have a ton of hunting gear to add to the shop.  Writing the product descriptions is tiring.  Well that's it for a quick update but if you get a chance please stop by DeerPros.com and let me know what you think

Three Reasons to Buy the Moultrie M880

Moultrie M880 For sale
Moultrie M880 For Sale
The Moultrie M880 has impressed many deer hunters in a short period.  The new 2013 model boast several nice features and is packed with plenty of power.  Price tag seems to draw some attention and then the features keep the Moultrie M880 gear bag.

Moultrie M880 Trigger Speed

At .8 seconds the Moultrie M880 trigger speed is fast enough for any situation.  An active trail or a rub line would be a good setup.  Fence crossings are also a great place because deer tend to cross in the same areas time after time.

Moultrie M880 Battery Life

You can expect to get over 1 years use out of a set of AA batteries with the Moultrie M880.  Even over and active bait station the battery life is really nice.

Moultrie M880 Price

The Moultrie M880 is for sale at less than $150.  The Deer Pros Shop currently has it listed for $149 and with the Moultrie M880 discount you can get it for $140 with free shipping.

A GREAT DEAL
